We were recommended Brickhurst Builders via our architects, and have had a great experience in their ability to take the initial drawings through to execution of the finished outcome of the project.
Our project was led by founder/owner David Rattray who was very approachable, available and transparent from initial quotation to completion. David demonstrated up to day knowledge of products, techniques and prices. He was able to guide us confidently towards an outcome that was both aesthetically in keeping with our design vision but also in budget! Brickhurst have a fantastic, local black book of trades people and we would easily recommend all of the tradesmen that were part of the project. This was especially key in helping resolve any snags and inevitable unexpected moments in the project. David is very much hands on and took a keen interest in all areas of the project and helped coordinate complex aspects of the build and was also on hand when things needed supervising appropriately.
Being a period property we were presented a few challenges along the way, which the Brickhurst team were able to adapt to and deal with innovatively. They were very mindful of client involvement and were able to adapt to changing needs and design input.
David led on the day-to-day management of the project, supporting us to understand the key decisions required and providing guidance were necessary – key for us as it was our first time doing a renovation of this scale.
David was diligent in providing a clear breakdown of financials for the project, and regularly updated the forecasts to ensure we could manage the project effectively.
We are delighted with the outcome of the project, and now have a home that we know we can enjoy for many years to come.

David Rattray and his team completed a domestic garage conversion for my family in Rye at the end of last year. We were pleased with the work, which included bricklaying, window installation, wall and floor insulation, plastering, drainage and roof vents. David is trustworthy and keeps to his price estimates. Most importantly, he also took care to communicate with his clients during the job — despite the lockdown. He was always happy to handle any alterations that were needed and to liaise with Building Control. I can certainly recommend him for jobs of this type and am happy for him to send you any photographs of our converted garage.

Brickhurst were recommended to us by our architect and, after receiving a number of quotes, we appointed them in early 2016.
The project was a large extension and was scheduled to take 7 months to complete. We found Dave and Brad’s approach really good. They, along with their team, managed the whole project and it completed on time and on budget. They were full of good advice about how to tackle challenges and always had ideas where we could save money as our budget was tight.
